We went with a new group today down the Piney River. There were several new people, some that hadn't even kayaked before; and several were experienced. It was an absolutely beautiful day. We've only paddled this river once before and it was just as beautiful as I had remembered. I think it is the most beautiful Tennessee River with it's crystal, clear water and many overhanging cliffs. There are several sections that are shaded making it a good river to kayak on a hot day. We stopped at lunch time and spent over an hour just playing in the water. There were people swimming, relaxing as much as one can on the rocks, and lots of squirt guns. The paddle was only a 5 mile paddle, but the beautiful river and friendly people made it all worthwhile. I'm sure we'll join this group again.
