4 days ago, we did NOT leave the house - it was 19 degrees out.  Today was predicted to be in the high 50's or around 60 degrees so we hurried out to the 'boathouse' to load up our kayaks.  We decided on the Harpeth River.  This time, I drove the truck over to the take-out as I had never walked back to the put-in.  It's a very easy walk - you can walk along the road or through the woods.  The water was absolutely beautiful from above.  It almost had that Caribbean clear blue/green color.  Typically, the Harpeth is not that clear because there's so much movement in the water with other boaters.  We were pleasantly surprised to see so many people out and about.  I guess we weren't the only ones running out of our house into the nice weather.  We probably passed about 10 boats today, some kayakers, some fishermen.  We had a pleasant lunch on a gravel bar underneath one of the adjacent bluffs.  We were very surprised to see the huge clamshells along the shore there.  We paddled up to the tunnel/waterfall.  We were able to paddle the whole way up the creek today.  We finished up and decided to extend the day with a hike through the woods.  It's a great hike with overlooking views of the Harpeth River.  The sun was setting so it made for even more beautiful views.  Here's looking to more 2019 paddles!!!

There are kayaking photos that I love and this is one of them!!
