Harpeth River

 9.58 miles, 2:30, 15 min pace

I’ve read that what you do on the first day of the new year set your intentions for the whole year. And so it was a beautiful day and we decided to go kayaking. I hope that means more kayaking and more adventures for 2023 the weather was beautiful today especially considering it a few days ago we had temperatures of -3°. Today started out at 66 and when we got back into the truck it was 71°. We paddled 9.6 miles in 2 1/2 hours they paddled nonstop so that we would be sure to finish before 4 o’clock since we started at 12.  We did encounter a large tree across the river from the road out leaving just a narrow strip to paddle through. This was right before the Rocky term but we handled it fine although we both got splashed water in our boat. The river was at 3 1/2 feet, so we never had any real problems.

It was also nice to see other people out in Kayaking, And, Hiking, apparently, with the same goal of starting off the new year in nature.
