Hiking- Nuwati Trail at Grandfather Mountain, NC

Nuwati Trail at Grandfather Mountain (bear Blowing Rock, NC)

We started our hike at 12:30 and ended at 3:10. We hiked a total of 3.5 miles. We parked at Boone Fork parking area which is part of grandfather Mountain State Park. The parking area has an elevation of 3905 feet M and we got to the refuge, the elevation was 4456 feet so storytellers rock would have been about 4476 feet elevation.  This hike is surrounded by trees although the leaves are down and once again we were surrounded by rhododendrons. I imagine this path would be beautiful in the fall with the changing colors are in the spring with the rhododendrons blooming. This was a wet Paeth filled with many rocks and exposed roots. We also passed over at least 11 streams, and we often had to maneuver to find the best rocks to cross. We passed mini hikers coming down the path although everybody was considerate and stepped far away keeping a good social distance. At the top is an area where you can camp called the refuge.  If you hike a bit farther up you get to storytellers rock where there is a beautiful view of the mountains surrounding us in grandfather State Park.  The hike down was quicker for me it always seems harder as I’m more careful of my right knee this trail is considered an easy trail.
