Kayaking - Current River 7.7 miles
We met at Akers Ferry at 9:00. This was our first time meeting most of the group and it was a friendly group! There were 27 paddlers and we each paid our $20 and signed a waiver. It seemed to take forever to load up as their policy is that the bust driver must tie down each kayak - it's his responsibility. I'm still not sure who had the idea to sit on the bus and wait while he did that - it was hot! We didn't get on the river until 11:30. The Current River is beautiful and clear as it's spring fed. It may have been a little murkier today because of recent storms, but we were still able to see the river bottom. We made several stops along gravel bars and had lunch at one of them. It was nice getting to know the others as we paddled this beautiful river. And it's great knowing that we all have one thing in common - a love of kayaking!
