Kayaking- Current River

Current River - Akers to Pulltite

We met at 10o’clock to load up the kayaks after paying $25 per person. It was a true exercise in patience waiting for all the kayaks to be tied down and it wasn’t until 12 o’clock when we got into the water. The current was swift for the first couple of miles and we were averaging 14 minutes per mile. There are small bluffs along the river and the water is often very blue. It’s a beautiful paddle.  We stopped for lunch and the group was actually on both sides of the river as they were two small gravel bars on each side. We had fun going into Cave Springs - I think this was the first time I've paddled into a cave. It was very cool!  We ended up paddling 10 miles and loaded up our kayaks at Pulltight campground. After showering we headed into the big town of Eminence for a big dinner at the Mexican restaurant. It was an excellent birthday dinner and I felt stuffed. The Peach mango margarita was the highlight of the meal. Back at the trailer it was time for another game of Catan.
