Assistant Lighthouse Keepers 7/27- Seagulls, seagulls, seagulls on Thacher Island

Seagulls, Seagulls, Seagulls on Thacher Island

After dropping off our luggage and groceries, we toured the island.  The thing that strikes you first on Thacher Island are the seagulls.  There are LOTS of seagulls.  They are EVERYWHERE.  And they are LOUD!

We saw this injured seagull on our walk.

This is what we saw on our walk back. When a gull is sick, injured (or vulnerable), the other seagulls will eat him.  This is what will remain.

These photos show Captain Hook.  He
claimed the land around the lighthouse keepers' homes as his own.
If you look closely, you can see the hook in his beak and the fishing line hanging out.
