Kayaking - Yellow Creek - Suck it up and paddle!

Yellow Creek                                                            6.8 miles                      1312.3 total
9:45 to 1:50, 2.4 mph avg speed, 4.7mph max speed
1:30 upstream, 1:15 downstream, 2:49 moving time

Rain was predicted in the late afternoon so we headed out to our local paddle.  It was in the 90's today.  It's funny, whenever I think of paddling on Yellow Creek, I envision a small, idyllic creek.  In reality, it's a large body of water in the beginning, somewhere between a river and a lake.  Today that open area was VERY hot, little current and little shade.  When I mentioned that to Scotty, he replied in his every encouraging voice, "Suck it up and paddle."  He also didn't like my suggestion of trying something we've never done - which is, to tow a boat!!
But, it was another pretty paddle.  We saw lots of herons as we started up the creek and we also saw lots of turtles just below the surface - more than I've ever seen before.  We paddled past a handful of other kayakers, small rowboats, all of them fishing.
Another note....the area we put in often shows traces of people hanging out there.  There are tire tracks where people go mudding.  Today, there was an abandoned campfire littered with beer bottles and gun shells.  I picked up a lot of the trash there today, but there was still much trash left behind.  It makes me sad to finish up a paddle in beautiful nature to see it spoiled by man with litter.
