We started our day by riding our bikes from the visitor centre over to sunrise point. Once again, it’s another inspiring view but quite different from the previous two national parks. (Grand Canyon & Zion). It almost looks like someone just dropped sand from their fingers and built up towers like children do at the beach. We had a very sunny day so the skies were bright blue and the red hoodies looked fantastic against the sky.
We hiked down Queens Garden Trail which is 1.4 miles. It was really cool to be among the hoodoos. From there we hiked onto the Queen Victoria Trail for a bit and then took the Navajo loop trail which went up to Sunset point. We walked from Sunset point back to sunrise point. we estimate that we hiked 3 1/2 miles total. Most of it was very nice except for the very end when we had to hike up hill. We saw some people working on Wall Street Trail. It turns out they were Americorps workers. I love when we go to parks and see what the Ccc did, but it was really nice today to see young people working in our national park. I talked to one young man and he said they were there for another week. Once we were at the top, we ate a well-deserved lunch.
We then rode our bikes over to inspiration point which has an elevation of 8100 feet. From here we could look over to Sunset point. It’s an awesome view and far far below we could see about 10 horses going along a trail at the bottom of the canyon. To end the day we rode our bikes from inspiration point back to the visitor centre. This was a really fun ride as we were going from the highest point of the park down to the lowest and we just sailed along.
