The drive into Zion is absolutely spectacular. At the Grand Canyon we were looking down into the canyon from the room but here you are down in the canyon looking up at the cliffs to get into Zion. You have to first go through a mile long tunnel it does have some big open windows where you can look out at the canyons. We managed to find a parking space which is really difficult and that is why its recommended to parkoutside of the park and taking the shuttle bus in. We rode our bikes along the scenic drive and our first hike was on the Emerald pools Trail, which is a 3 mile round-trip hike. We went up to the middle pool and the upper pool. Today they were more like puddles as there was not a whole lot of water there after we hiked back down the mountain we continued on the scenic drive up to Zion narrows Riverside. It follows alongside the river and at the end the Canyon narrows eventually becoming a slot Canyon we did not go all the way up as you have to hike through water to get there. You look there is beauty and another picture perfect scene on the way out we stopped at Zion Riverview pub. We each had a heavy bison which was very good and loaded fries again very good. It was a long and exhausting day.
A place where I can yak about my yakking! Now that we're both retired, we're hoping to travel more so this blog will include land based trips also!
