We drove our kayaks over to the public launch and put into Lake Powell, and paddled over to antelope Creek. It is a huge public launch and there were four outfitters putting in groups of kayaks. The water was like ice. It was so still and they were beautiful reflections as we got into the canyon. It was only a little over a mile before the creek ended and we had to, put our boats on shore.
From here, we hi Little antelope slot Canyon. It’s started off wide and then we got farther, it did narrow some. There were a few tricky spots to continue further in. At one point there is a four step ladder, but someone had placed them on the rocks and other spots where we had to climb up over huge boulders. This time we had started to see a few more people in the canyon. We ended up hiking 3 1/2 miles. When we got back to our kayaks, we ate our lunch.
Started paddling back to the marina and realized that the winds had picked up tremendously and the water was quite wavy. The waves were coming from different directions and it was not an easy paddle. Especially noticed some of the people with the outfitters were having a more difficult time, and it looked like one person had possibly capsized as we saw an outfitter towing an empty boat. Another outfitters said a motorboat had picked up the person when we got back to the public launch Scotty went to get the truck. as I waited, I did hear the outfitters stating that it was the roughest they had seen the water in a long time
