Kayaking - Ocklawaha River

9.4 miles, 3.6 avg soeed, 8.6 max soeed, 3:12 elapsed time, low 80s, Ocklawaha River

We had a funny encounter as we drove to Gores Landing. There were 2 farmers out trying to catch a cow. They didn’t know who she belonged to, but wanted to fence her until they found the owner. We carried on and dropped off the kayaks.  BenjiBear and I walked around while Scotty drove to Eureka West. We put in and headed down River. It was another beautiful, Florida day -temps in the low 80s, blue skies. We noticed A LOT of small alligators at the beginning of this trip. We saw 3 swimming across tgg hee River in front of us at different points.  Scotty said we should have counted them and do we started and that’s when we began to see fewer. Around mile marker 5.7 we pulled into a creek on the right. We pulled onto a bank, just below some deserted looking homes and trailers. At this point, BenjiBear appeared to need the break. We ate lunch and switched BenjiBearbinto Scotty’s boat.  The silly dog whined again for me, even though I was kayaking right along with them. My hope is that by ghh my e end of this trip, he’ll stop this behavior. Fingers crossed.
