Travel Day to Madrid

We had our last breakfast at Holiday Inn express. Boo-hoo no more Portuguese custard pastries. We walked down to the metro and rode straight to the airport. Our flight was with the air Europa, which is not the most comfortable airline, but it was only a two hour flight and they charge for drinks. Once at the Madrid airport, we had a bit of a puzzle to figure out how to get to our hotel. We wrote a shuttle bus to terminal four and at terminal four we rode a subway and switched at this SOL. Stop and then rode another two stops. From there it was a short walk to our hotel, which is located near the downtown shopping area. It’s a very nice hotel And we were glad to get settled. We found a nearby restaurant/bar and had dinner. I had toast with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Scotty had a pork tenderloin sandwich and we both split some calamari. We agreed the calamari were good but they will never top the ones we had at Setobal. Scotty had a beer and I had a sangria that was just excellent. I need to learn how to make Spanish sangrias. We walked around downtown for a while before we found a pharmacy so I could get some nighttime cold medicine. Hopefully this cold will go away.
