Hiking - Hopewell Rocks

As the rain continued, we drove to Hopewell Rocks. Many people were heading out, but we zipped up our raincoats and hiked in. The walk took about 15 minutes, and the misty air only added to the atmosphere. We had seen pictures of the famous “Flowerpot Rocks” and expected maybe three towering formations — but we were in for a surprise.

There were dozens of incredible rock formations, all standing tall as the tide was out. They rose above us like stone giants, some easily 50 feet tall. When the tide returns, the water reaches halfway up the rocks, and visitors can kayak around them. The tide changes here in the Bay of Fundy are some of the most extreme in the world — an awe-inspiring 50-foot difference. Seeing these rocks at low tide, knowing they’d soon be engulfed, was breathtaking.

On our scenic drive home, we made a final detour to Cape Enrage Lighthouse. Unfortunately, it was locked up for the evening, but we managed to snap a photo before calling it a day.
