 Cobb Hill Alpaca Farm

Tonight is our first night at a Harvest Host location and it couldn’t be any more perfect! The farm is located on rolling green fields dotted with alpacas, fences and barns with low mountains in the background.  We parked the trailer next to the barn and we were able to hook up to electricity and water. Tom, the owner told us to walk around and he’d give us a tour when the other camper arrived. We walked across the gravel road where there was a swing with a beautiful, picturesque view of the farm. We walked along the creek for a short distance to a small grove of walnut tres. When we got back to the trailer, the alpacas were out grazing and I began snapping photos. Oh my gosh - cuteness overload!!! The other family arrived and we began the tour. It was very informal and we learned a lot about alpacas and alpaca farming. There are 19 alpacas here, each named and each one with their own personality. I was able to feed them some alfalfa and enjoyed hearing their crunching, although it made me peer into their mouths to see just how big their teeth are. I don’t think there was any chance of them biting, but apparently they will spit when irritated! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and probably spent about 2 and a half hours with the group. There’s a small gift shop, but I couldn’t decide so I’ll go shopping in the morning.

Apologies for the overload of alpaca photos.  They are just SO DARN CUTE!!!
