We packed our tubs and Dave picked us up at 6:15. We headed to Granite pier, loaded our stuff and headed out to Thatcher Island. He quickly said hello to the outgoing crew, and they told us a few issues that needed to be addressed. Keeping with the Saturday tradition, donuts were brought out and it was a nice treat to start the day. Then the day started. Dave and Scotty worked on the generator In the water problem. They seem to be a good team as they’re both very analytical. The boats started coming in with visitors with a total of five boats in the visitor started to mill around the island. It seems like most of the visitors are locals who had signed up during the pandemic time is it never seen the island. There was one family with kids and I think the highlight of their trip were the chickens on the island and Thatcher, the chocolate lab owned by Peg and Dave. They were also two older ladies and they were thrilled when I took the pictures in various places on the island.Today I learned how to do the winch, which was fun for me and made me think I could be useful in the boathouse. I got busy by sweeping goose poop in the two front yards. This is usually a never ending job, but at the end of the day we noticed little poop and we think it was because Thatcher the dog is scared the geese away.
A place where I can yak about my yakking! Now that we're both retired, we're hoping to travel more so this blog will include land based trips also!
