Hiking -Savica Waterfall, Croatia

Rain was predicted around 2 o’clock, so we headed straight to Savica Waterfall. We were able to drive up to a parking lot and begin our hike from there. The trail started out as a gradual, rocky path and eventually turned into a steady climb of steps. Along the way, we could hear the gushing water tumbling down the mountainside, just out of sight.

When we finally reached the top, the view was unbelievable. Even though the waterfall was a couple hundred yards away, the sheer force of it filled the air with mist. Within moments we were damp, and if we had lingered longer, we would have been completely soaked. We stayed just long enough to take some photos before stepping out of the direct spray.

It’s easy to understand why this is the most visited waterfall in Slovenia—it was absolutely stunning. The hike back down, as expected, was much easier and gave us time to savor the experience. The hike totaled 1.4 miles.
