Today we visited Lake Bled, one of Slovenia’s most famous (and busiest) spots. The lake was beautiful, even with the crowds, and the church on the island in the middle looked especially striking from every angle. We decided to walk all the way around the lake and then took a trail that climbed above it for a wonderful overhead view. Altogether, we hiked 4.6 miles.
At the end of our walk, we rewarded ourselves at a lakeside café with a slice of the famous Lake Bled cream cake. It was delicious—layers of flaky pastry on the top and bottom, a thick creamy custard-like filling, and a thin layer of whipped cream. After hiking 4.6 miles, we felt like we had definitely earned it!
