After leaving the waterfall, we drove down the mountain and parked closer to the lake. From there, we set out on a 4 km hike along the south side of Lake Bohinj. The path was shaded by trees, and every so often we had to cross the road to catch a glimpse of the lake through the breaks in the forest.
Back in Bohinj, we stopped at the local market and picked up sandwiches, pretzels, and drinks for lunch. We carried our picnic aboard the Lake Bohinj boat, an electric vessel since gas-powered engines aren’t allowed inside the park. Fun fact: the boat originally came from Königssee in Germany in 1987.
The ride was wonderfully peaceful. The electric motor was nearly silent, leaving us free to soak in the scenery—towering mountains, brilliant blue skies, drifting white clouds, and perfect reflections across the water.
After the boat ride, we returned to our car and made a quick visit to the Oplen House Museum, which offers a glimpse into everyday life in the 19th century. Finally, we headed back to our apartment to relax after a full day of exploring.
