Lobster buoys are used by fishermen to mark the location of their traps. Each buoy floats on the surface of the water, with a line running down to the trap resting on the ocean floor. Every lobsterman has a unique number and a distinct color pattern on their buoy, making it easy to identify. When seen together, these buoys create a beautiful medley of colors. We collect the buoys that wash up on the shore and if they aren’t easily identifiable, we use them in displays on the island or we put them in a pen to be distributed to lobsterman later.
A place where I can yak about my yakking! Now that we're both retired, we're hoping to travel more so this blog will include land based trips also!
